5 out of 5 stars Satisfied customer with this keyboard   March 29, 2008

After installing the drivers on Windows XP, I was surprised at the number of features available for the touchpad. It does everything described in the ad and flawlessly. I experienced non of the problems mentioned by other users. It arrived on time and worked flawlessly out of the box! Very happy with it.

5 out of 5 stars great wireless kb!   October 26, 2008
Sunkist (PA, USA)
I have owned this keyboard for a few years now and it still works great. I initially got it because I frequently use a laptop and wanted to use my desktop more. As my desktop display is actually my tv, i needed a setup where i could type and mouse from the couch. The keyboard has good range and was easy to set up. I ended up putting the receiver w/ a usb extension cord since my usb ports are in the back. You do not need special drivers for it. It works great w/ xp, you just press the buttons to pair it like the directions say. At one time, I did have a problem and Adesso RMA'd it w/ no prob.
I really have no idea why the "experienced user" and others had issues with it. This kb is great! Rechargeable batteries are a must cause you'll use it alot! :)

4 out of 5 stars Completed my HTPC   May 7, 2006

This is my first review on Amazon, mostly because the negative reviews here need some balance. I feel really strongly that this keyboard is worth every penny. It worked for me right out of the box. Easy install, easy to use. Period. I have had no problems on Windows XP SP2. I've been recommending this thing to all my friends building an HTPC and the ones who heed my advice have agreed (so far). It would be nice to have more customization features, but that's the only reason this keyboard doesn't warrant a 5.

Everyone has different experiences with stuff like this. But if you have Win XP SP2 you're good to go.

4 out of 5 stars Compact, Integrated Mouse   December 31, 2007

I have used this model of keyboard for at least 1000 hours over the last 2-3 years. I have tried various other compact keyboards with integrated mouses, any I could get my hands on. I have not so far found any other model comparable to this one. I have no problems as far as general functionality with Linux or Windows.

There does seem to be a design flaw that the way the cables are routed inside the keyboard, the cable gets pinched and eventually funky things will happen; I opened the back (just a few crosshead screws), fixed the pinched part of the cable and rerouted it, and did not have a problem after that. I have done this with two units of this model.

3 out of 5 stars Some improvement, some regression.   January 9, 2006

Summary: An excellent touchpad keyboard, with a few caveats.

The touchpad buttons are much better than the ACK-540UB Mini Black USB Keyboard. They are on a flat surface now and are much easier on the fingers.

The keyboard buttons and layout are almost exactly like a laptop's. Modifier keys are comfortably wider than the Mini Black's. I wonder why Adesso put the Fn key in the lower left corner, rather than the Ctrl key, but it's no big deal.

The touchpad feels less cheap than the Mini Black model. The "tap-as-click" option is still present, but with the better touchpad, it's less of a problem.

The shell is very sleek and thin and looks pleasant on a desk.

Caveats:

When the stands on the bottom are flipped out, the keyboard slides all over the place! The rubber underneath doesn't touch the table with the stands up. I have to let the lower part of the keyboard hang slightly over the edge of the desk so the rubber stops will anchor the keyboard. The Mini Black didn't have have this problem. How did this get past Adesso's review process? Or am I doing it wrong?

Occasionally, the keyboard or touchpad will stop responding (never at the same time), so I have to unplug and re-plug the USB cord (directly into the computer, not a hub). I assume this is either a USB power issue or a software issue. I use this on a desktop Mac, so I don't expect Adesso to help out in that area. It doesn't happen often enough to be a big problem.

I tried it on a laptop with WinXP and it worked fine, but I can't seem to disable the "tap-as-click" feature on that operating system either. The Synaptics driver recognizes the touchpad as a HID-compliant mouse.
